Cumberland County Municipal Chairs Endorse Tim Alexander for Congress

Cumberland County, NJ – March 4, 2026 – Four municipal Democratic chairs from across

Cumberland County have announced their personal endorsements of Tim Alexander’s

campaign for Congress in New Jersey’s Second District. LaRae Smith (Commercial Township),

Marion Kennedy Jr. (Fairfield Township), Sandy Acevedo (Upper Deerfield Township), and

Damita White‑Morris (Bridgeton City) issued a joint statement expressing their support for the civil‑rights attorney and longtime community advocate.

The chairs emphasized that, although they each serve as municipal leaders, their endorsements

are offered in their personal capacities. They said they felt compelled to speak out because of Alexander’s record of standing with working families and his commitment to ensuring that every part of South Jersey is heard.

“Commercial Township is a small community with a big heart, and our residents want leaders

who will stand up for them,” said LaRae Smith, chair of the Commercial Township Democrats.

“I’ve watched Tim Alexander meet with fishermen and farmers, parents and seniors, and he

always asks what he can do to help. He puts people first and will give South Jersey the voice it deserves in Washington.”

“As chair of Fairfield Township, I know the challenges our towns face every day,” said Marion

Kennedy Jr., chair of the Fairfield Township Democrats. “Tim isn’t just another politician; he’s a neighbor who knows the struggle firsthand. He listens, he puts people over politics, and he will bring federal resources home to improve our infrastructure and public services.”

Sandy Acevedo, chair of the Upper Deerfield Township Democrats, noted Alexander’s

dedication to rural communities and small businesses. “He champions rural communities,

advocates for fair trade policies that support farmers, and pushes for broadband access so our children can learn and our businesses can compete,” she said. “I’m standing with Tim because he will deliver real results for Upper Deerfield Township and all of South Jersey.”

Damita White‑Morris, chair of the Bridgeton City Democrats and a lifelong educator,

underscored the importance of investing in children and seniors. “Bridgeton City is my home,

and I’ve dedicated my life to empowering our young people and supporting families,” she said. “Tim Alexander shares that understanding. His decades of service as a civil‑rights attorney show that he will champion fairness and opportunity for everyone. I’m proud to join this endorsement because Tim will fight for every corner of our district.”

In their joint statement, the chairs wrote, “Together, we felt compelled to lend our personal

voices to this endorsement because the stakes for our towns are too high for us to remain silent. Tim Alexander’s unwavering dedication to civil rights, public service, and the unique needs of South Jersey gives us confidence that he will represent every corner of New Jersey’s Second

District.”

Alexander expressed gratitude for the endorsements. “I’m honored to have the support of these dedicated community leaders,” he said. “LaRae, Marion, Sandy, and Damita know the hopes and challenges of their towns better than anyone. I look forward to working with them to build a more just, prosperous, and connected South Jersey.”
